A rat ligament study is still the core of the BPC-157 joint claim
Cerovecki and colleagues reported improved ligament healing in rats with the peptide also known as PL 14736. The model is the evidence.
The medial collateral and cruciate ligament papers are why BPC-157 is discussed in joint injuries at all. Cerovecki and colleagues, Journal of Orthopaedic Research, 2010, reported better healing in a rat ligament model using the pentadecapeptide also designated PL 14736. Secondary reviews describe more than one route of administration and a follow-up measured in weeks to months. The primary paper is the authority for the exact surgery, the exact route, and the biomechanical test. This summary will not restate those methods as instructions.
PL 14736 is a trial name, not a product line
PL 14736 was the designation used when the peptide was taken toward inflammatory-bowel studies. NCT00305513 is the registry record associated with that clinical line. A gut-directed phase 2 program, whatever its outcome, is not a completed orthopaedic development plan. Readers should open the registry and read the condition and the status instead of assuming “it was in trials” means “trials succeeded for tendons.”
The limit
Rats do not have the same tendon loading, rehabilitation, or comorbidities as people returning from a sprain. A positive ligament study justifies more research. It does not justify treating a research-catalog blend as if it had been the article’s intervention.
